On brain rest

After getting this lovely steel beam fall on my head on Sunday arvo, I went and got it all checked mon morning at the hospital where I work...... No brain bleed or fractures.  I was back at work tues morning and only lasted till lunch time as the concussion let me know it was there!!  The headaches are lessening, as is the dizziness thankfully, but I'm not allowed back to work till next week!  Limited computer time due to the light & brightness from them as well......   So I'm officially on ' brain rest'!! LOL.     So I'm doing a few other things while I'm at home...... Like make some lemon butter with our own lemons and eggs.
The receipe I have uses just 4 eggs and a half cup of lemon juice, so you end up with just 2 jars... But since you need to keep lemon butter ( curd) in the fridge, this works just fine for me.....although I may have to juice and freeze the other lemons I have here to use later!
Today I think I may cut out a few more hexies and work on paper piecing them.  Not sure as yet what patter I will put them in as there are still a few more swatches coming from the group swap I was in and I want to use all of them together to make a nice table runner...... Well that's the plan at any rate!
Hope everyone else has a great day today......it looks quite cold and windy outside here at my home!

The winter veggie patch

We seem to be getting a lovely crop of veggies this winter,  just look at the peas!!  Should be ready for picking in a few weeks time.  Meanwhile, I did pick our first piece of broccoli yesterday, it was so sweet.  This year the broccoli, cauliflower & cabbages are under some bird netting after a friend mentioned the bird netting seems to distract the white moth...... Well, it does seem to be working ...

Back to the Hexies

It's been such a long time since I've sat and done some hand stitching, but I have some fabric swatches coming in the mail from my lovely country scents snail mail group.  I decided that it might be nice to use these to make some hexies, since there will be different sized swatches arriving, and then put them together to make a table runner.  Anyhow, the first 2 envelopes arrived this week, so this afternoon I sat down and began on some of them...... This material came from Lynda, doesn't it look so pretty..........

All finished

Somehow it seems I overlooked posting a pic of the pie safe all finished.  I know some of you who follow the 7 pillars home will have seen it there on the blog or on the Facebook page, but for the rest of you here it is!....... Ok, so maybe not......looks like I'm still having trouble with this blog & the downloading of photos!  Sorry guys...... Perhaps for now go have a look at it on my other blog......  Www.the7pillarshome.blogspot.com.

Take care all,

Something Old, Something New

My husband drove in from work last evening with this wonderful old treasure on board! I love old fashioned items and this old kitchen cupboard is no exception! The fronts have the old wire mesh, just like the old fashioned meat safes............. Turns out it is / was known as a pie safe. The shelves inside are just the perfect size to fit family pies on. LOL. But I will be using it to house all my homemade jams and preserves............ That is, once I clean out the mud wasp nests, cobwebs and dust. It may also get a paint job too. A lovely old piece, becoming a new treasure for our little house. Just have to move some things around to make it fit in our tiny home.

Clutter, stash busting

this was part of my stash........ That is needing to be tidied up, used up or gotten rid of.......... So, you guessed it, it has been cut up into a couple hundred squares, which are currently being sewn together to create my Clutter buster quilt!....... Progress will be cut for a bit, as hubby & I head to Perth on Saturday to celebrate our28th wedding anniversary!

Ps, totally unsure how this will post as its my first time from the iPad, that hubbie gave me for Christmas

A New Year..... A New Start

Hi there everyone, or those of you who just happen to still wonder if I'm around. Perhaps I'm just writing to myself....... I can deal with that LOL. Anyhow, haven't gotten around to working out the phot situation, so ill be blogging without photos for the time being. My wonderful hubbie bought me an iPad 4 for Christmas! Have to say I was just a bit stunned...... How did he even know I wanted one?? And now my DIL was able to tell me there was an app for blogger so I could write posts....... Well, who could pass that up?? And in December we were blessed by getting ADSL2 Internet in our area!!!!!! This has made a huge difference and I can even view photos on blogs without having to wait hours for them to download! Well, just a big hello to anyone still around and I hope to go visit some of your blogs a little later today after some much needed house work gets done. Until next time, big hugs, sharm
