My Dad turned 95 on the 2nd Feb with my sister and her hubbie flying out from New Zealand for the weekend to celebrate .......... unfortunately they noticed how much he has declined since last October and getting out and about for him now takes alot more effort on his part and ours....... But he enjoyed his birthday dinner out!
We had some other exciting news the start of February that I'll tell you about in a special post next
Kaye and I at the Cafe |
One of my newer friends Deb came with me to keep me company for the drive over and back. Deb lives just down the road from me in Corowa and we became firm friends once we discovered we had both gotten puppies last Christmas and the 2 girls (now 15 months old) get on so extremely well ..... You would have seen photos of Lucy with her friend Bella in previous posts.
Kaye, Deb and myself at the old port section
We had a lovely day out walking around the Port of Echuca and checking out the shopping. The river was right down ...... so far that the paddle steamers are dry docked pretty much! It's hard to believe the water rises up to the tops of that Warf you see in the photo!! The downer was the $240 speeding fine I picked up on the way home ....... and I'm not highlighting that number!!!!
On the sewing front after getting my Number 6 jobs completed I started work on the "Down the Rabbit Hole " Quilt which now just needs some applique in the corners before finally being ready to quilt! This might just be the year it gets finished!!!
Stacey's close friend is also due to have a baby in the next couple of months so I've been doing a bit of knitting and sewing for that little one as I've been invited to the baby shower in March - I dare not blink at this rate lol
SOOOOOOOO ....... FINALLY on the 10th day of February I dropped over to Deana's Blog to find out what Number item from our list we will be working on for the rest of February .......
This means getting started on the "I Spy Quilt" from the sewing list; From the yarn list - "A pair of Socks" to be either commenced or worked on - however my number 1 on that list is a baby cardigan and I'm currently half way through one that I need to finish for the above baby shower so I may just have to "twigg" my list ........ then of course I have the decluttering list which mentions something about kitchen drawers and the Tallboy in the guest room ....... Well, with just 18 days left or so I'm thinking February might not be the same crushing glory that January was lol!
And before I forget ....... I saw on a blog over Christmas where somebody put up all the books they
had read for the year so I thought I should remember to do this each month ..... I missed blogging about this in January but I did ready my all time favourite classic that I've read over and over - frequently it's a January read for some reason and my book is now beginning to fall apart .......
A Town Like Alice by Neville Shute
I also read "The Underground Railroad" by Colson Whitehead which I picked up from the library about runaway slaves in America trying to make it to safety further north
In Feb so far I've managed to read "Gone" by Margaret Wilcox - a true story about a mothers 14 year search for her daughter and a book I just happened to pick up from the little "give a way" book library that used to sit outside an old motel around the corner here and has recently been moved up to the Community Garden so more people can access it ........ place any unwanted books into it and take any that you might like to read! I'll be dropping this one back so somebody else can get the chance to enjoy it. This makes 3 books for the year so far which I'm quite surprised about in actual fact!
Well, I think this is where I will leave it today ....... I really need to be blogging more than once a month so improvements are required ....... a little more disciplined organisation for everybody so I still get me "my time" to do the one hundred and one million things it seems I'm trying to fit into a week lol
Many thanks to those who have been leaving comments and visiting my blog
Hugs
Sharm

I like your running photos with Lucy. She probably loves it!
I am glad you blogged about some books you have read. From time to time I do, but I could use an update. I do Goodreads.com to help me keep track and to get a photo of all the books I read in a year. The Underground Railroad book really interests me. I have heard they even used quilts to tell parts of the underground railroad story and to guide the people to safety.
Sorry you got a ticket - ouch!
Congrats on getting your #6 on all three of your lists done. Good luck on your two weeks left for February.
You read some great books. The beauty of the chookshed challenge is that you can tweak it to suit, if you need to get the baby cardigan completed, you go for it.
Life does have a habit of getting in the way of things we want to do. However, it must have been lovely to catch up with family and friends and have a day out. Good on you for doing Park Run and I enjoyed seeing what books you have read.
Plans and lists are meant to be 'tweaked'.
Love the photo at Echuca ... I loved watching 'All the Rivers Run'.
Good luck for February, I'm a little the same, running out of days but what will be...will be.
