Friday night Sewing with Friends
Last night I popped by a couple of blogs early enough to realise it was Friday night sewing with friends in blog land........ It's been such a long time since I've done this, so it was lovely to know others were out there sewing along with me. I was working on cutting up fabric swatches that have been coming in the mail from my penpal group in celebration of our 6 yr anniversary of snail mailing circle letters to each other ( we call them robins). I'm cutting them up and making them into little hexies and once all the swatches have arrived I will have a better idea of how I'm going to put them together to make a table runner. The one on the table at the moment was made by a very dear penpal friend, Lyn from up in NSW. I just love it, but there are times where it needs to be washed and I need a replacement LOL.
After this many though I needed a change of pace and decided it was time to pick up the crochet hook and do a few more rows on the ripple afghan I'm making for myself using mostly wools from my stash.... Except for one ball after running out of the lovely maroon coloured alpaca yarn that was sent to me from Alaska earlier this year! Some of the other wools were sent as swaps from USA and parts of Australia, so it is lovely reminder of some of the wonderful friendships I've made through snail mail, blog land and Facebook! I pray you all had a lovely Friday evening as well, Hugs. Sharm

On brain rest
After getting this lovely steel beam fall on my head on Sunday arvo, I went and got it all checked mon morning at the hospital where I work...... No brain bleed or fractures. I was back at work tues morning and only lasted till lunch time as the concussion let me know it was there!! The headaches are lessening, as is the dizziness thankfully, but I'm not allowed back to work till next week! Limited computer time due to the light & brightness from them as well...... So I'm officially on ' brain rest'!! LOL. So I'm doing a few other things while I'm at home...... Like make some lemon butter with our own lemons and eggs.
The receipe I have uses just 4 eggs and a half cup of lemon juice, so you end up with just 2 jars... But since you need to keep lemon butter ( curd) in the fridge, this works just fine for me.....although I may have to juice and freeze the other lemons I have here to use later!
Today I think I may cut out a few more hexies and work on paper piecing them. Not sure as yet what patter I will put them in as there are still a few more swatches coming from the group swap I was in and I want to use all of them together to make a nice table runner...... Well that's the plan at any rate!
Hope everyone else has a great day today......it looks quite cold and windy outside here at my home!

The winter veggie patch
We seem to be getting a lovely crop of veggies this winter, just look at the peas!! Should be ready for picking in a few weeks time. Meanwhile, I did pick our first piece of broccoli yesterday, it was so sweet. This year the broccoli, cauliflower & cabbages are under some bird netting after a friend mentioned the bird netting seems to distract the white moth...... Well, it does seem to be working ...
