Recipes - laundry

Liquid Laundry Detergent  (my prefered so far):
2 cups hot water
1 cup grated pure soap (eg sunlight)
( 1/2 cup grated sard wonder soap if desired)
1 cup Borax
1 cup Washing Soda                 (washing soda ; Borax are both available from supermarket - laundry aisle)
Bucket or 2 buckets that will hold 15-20 litres.

Add grated soap to hot water in a large pot and stir over heat till completely dissolved.  (if you feel you need to add a little more water to help the process that won't hurt at all).  Make sure the soap is completely dissolved or your liquid will separate later on.  Add some more water to your pot, Then add the  washing soda, and sard  being careful not to allow it to flow over the pot, once dissolved add the borax and stir well till dissolved.  Now add 4 cups of hot water and stir well till mixed.
You now need to fill your bucket with around 9 litres of hot water ( or divide it into the 2 buckets).  Add your soapy mixture to this and give it a good stir.  This is the time you can add in a bit of essential oil if you wish.  Once stirred well, slowly add cold water to make up to between 18 - 20 litres depending on how thick you want the mixture.

Bottle in containers with a slightly wide mouth (I use plastic 2litre milk containers - please label them well to avoid accidents).
Use 1/4 - 1/2 cup per load .  The mixture does gell so mixing it with a bit of water before adding to wash is recommended.
